Call for Posters - 2008 TRB Public Involvement Poster Session

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) Committee on Public Involvement in Transportation is pleased to issue the annual Call for Posters for the upcoming 2008 Public Involvement Poster Session.

For those of you new to TRB or the Public Involvement Poster Session, the session is an opportunity to share tehcnical approaches and strategies pertaining to public involvement, communications, and outreach in all phases of transportation in an interactive format with colleagues from across the U. S. and around the world.  Anyone with a valuable public involvement story to tell is encouraged to submit.  The session will take place at the HIlton Hotel during the TRB 87th Annual Meeting, January 13-17, 2008 in Washington D.C.  The specific date and time of the session has not yet been determined.

The application form and guidelines are available at the link below.  Applications are due to Claudio Bilotto via e-mail or fax by 5PM on Friday, September 14, 2007 (see the application for details).  The deadline is firm.

Our Mission

The mission of the committee (ADA60) is to enhance the understanding, acceptance, and practice of public involvement as an art and science in transportation planning and project development activities by fostering research, identifying best practices, promoting use of new technologies, promulgating standards, and upgrading public involvement skills of transportation professionals.

Committee Corner

Our Committee Corner currently is featuring the contents and results of the Annual Meeting Workshop on Force-Field Analysis held on Sunday, January 21, 2007.  Check it out to learn a proven technique for problem-solving with groups or advisory committees. New Committee Chairwoman Selected

The Committee on Public Involvement in Transportation is pleased to announce the selection of a new chairwoman to lead the committee for the next six years.

Jennifer Weeks, a senior planner with PB Placemaking in Baltimore, MD, has been a member of the committee for several years, and has helped with a variety of different committee efforts.  She most recently led the committee's Research sub-committee, and she has organized several annual meeting sessions over the years.

Jennifer has 15 years of experience working in transportation planning and policy. She specializes in the development and implementation of transportation public policy programs, guidance, and initiatives at all levels of government.  Starting her career at the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Jennifer was the agency's national expert on public involvement and was responsible for developing programs, training, and guidance for implementation of federal public involvement requirements.

Jennifer has a Masters degree in Public Policy and Administration from the LaFollette Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Jennifer succeeds Maggie Campbell-Jackson as chairwoman of the committee.

We welcome Jennifer, and thank Maggie for her dedicated leadership over the past six years!
