Call for Creative Ideas
One of the most challenging aspects for transportation professionals is communicating complex concepts with a non-technical audience. We know from past experience that transportation professionals at times find it challenging to communicate critical transportation concepts to a non-technical audience. While some have found tools, graphics, or just the right words to convey their message, opinion research tells us that transportation professionals still face a largely uninformed public. We need fresh and creative ideas, and we need to share those ideas within our profession.
For this year's Communicating Concepts Call and Competition we are throwing down the gauntlet and focusing on an industry with lots of experience and reasons to communicate – PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. Are there creative and innovative techniques that go beyond the traditional fare increase marketing campaign or public meeting event? In short, we are looking for those hard-hitting, high-impact and creative ways that are being used to reach the public.
As an added incentive, the top entries, as judged by an independent panel of transportation professionals, journalists and communication specialists, will be invited to the 89th TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. At the Annual Meeting the top entries will be showcased in a poster session and featured in a Transportation Research News article, reaching over 7,000 individuals.
